Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is a Sherpa Pen?

The Sherpa is a premium pen cover designed to enhance, protect, and personalize your favorite everyday writing tools. Rather than being a pen itself, it’s a high-quality reusable shell that holds popular disposable pens and markers such as the Sharpie Fine Point, uni-ball Vision, uni-ball Deluxe Micro, Bic Round Stic Xtra Life, Bic Cristal, and others.

Sherpa offers multiple collections, grouped into two main categories:

  • Sherpa Classic, Classic Contemporary, Sherpa Ultimate, and Sherpa Balance – These are our most versatile pen covers. Designed for maximum flexibility, they work as luxury Sharpie covers, rollerball housings, highlighter cases, and more. With optional adapters, they can even convert into ballpoint or refillable rollerball systems.
  • Sherpa Ballpoint – Specifically designed for stick-style ballpoint pens such as Bic Cristal, Bic Round Stic, and Paper Mate Write Bros.

Each Sherpa is precision-crafted from durable materials to improve grip, balance, and visual appeal. Most models support multiple refill types, and many are compatible with optional adapters—allowing you to switch writing styles without changing pens.

4. What Materials Are Sherpa Pens Made From?

At Sherpa, we use premium materials to ensure every pen performs as well as it looks and withstands everyday use.

Our pens are crafted from solid brass, lightweight aluminum, and stainless steel, providing durability and a balanced in-hand feel. Depending on the finish, you’ll find polished lacquers, matte coatings, metallic plating, and detailed printed artwork designed to complement each model.

In our Sherpa Classic models, we also include a specially engineered inner cap to help preserve ink freshness and reduce drying.

Every Sherpa Pen is carefully assembled and inspected in the USA to maintain the highest quality standards.

---

5. Where Are Sherpa Pens Manufactured?

Sherpa Pens are designed and assembled in Denver, Colorado. While precision metal components are manufactured overseas, final assembly and inspection take place in the United States to ensure every pen meets our standards.

Founded in 2008, Sherpa has always focused on thoughtful design, craftsmanship, and improving the everyday writing experience.

6. Do You Ship Internationally?

Yes, Sherpa Pens ship internationally. Customers outside the United States can place orders through our website. International buyers are responsible for return shipping costs and any applicable duties or taxes.

Shipping rates and delivery times vary by destination. Customs fees, import taxes, or additional charges may apply depending on your country.

Expedited orders placed before 12:00 PM MST typically ship the same day, excluding weekends and holidays.

8. The Grip Section on My New Sherpa is Missing — What Do I Do?

If your Sherpa appears to be missing its grip section, don’t worry—it is almost certainly still there. The grip is a required structural component, so the pen cannot function without it.

In most cases, the cap was unscrewed instead of pulled off. Sherpa caps are designed to snap on tightly to protect ink freshness. If the cap is twisted, the grip section can remain inside the cap and appear missing.

The fix is simple:
Screw the barrel back onto the exposed threads inside the cap, then pull the barrel straight out. The grip will come out attached, as intended.

---

9. How Do I Clean My Sherpa Pen?

Cleaning your Sherpa Pen is quick and simple. Wipe the exterior with a soft cloth. If needed, use a damp cloth with mild soap and dry thoroughly.

To clean the interior, remove the refill and gently wipe inside with a dry cloth or cotton swab. Do not submerge the pen or use harsh chemicals.

For tougher residue, WD-40 can safely remove ink, dirt, and grime.

---

10. My Sherpa Refill is Loose — What Should I Do?

If your refill is loose or rattling inside a Sherpa Classic, the internal spring may be missing. This spring secures the refill and comes pre-installed in all Sherpa Classic, Classic Contemporary, and Balance pens.

If it is missing, you can purchase a replacement spring kit here, which includes three Sherpa-specific springs.

---

11. How Do I Install a Replacement Spring?

Ensure the wide end of the spring faces the bottom of the barrel.

A simple method is to place the narrow end on a pencil, slide the barrel over it, then guide the spring into place using the pencil.

---

12. My Sherpa is Broken — Can It Be Repaired?

Sherpa Pens include a 1-year limited warranty covering manufacturing defects. If your pen is within this period, contact us with your order details and a description of the issue.

We will determine the best option for repair or replacement. Even outside of warranty, many issues can still be repaired unless the model has been discontinued.
